River Oaks also offers Respite Care Services. This service allows persons caring for a loved one at home to admit that individual to our facility for a period not to exceed 14 days. This permits caregivers to take a vacation or just have some personal time at home while knowing their loved one is receiving 24 hour care from knowledgeable and caring staff.
For those residents who have assisted living needs and don’t need 24 hour skilled nursing services, River Oaks offers their sister facility, The Oaks, located right down the street.
River Oaks Heath Care Center was physically constructed in 1964. It opened as a nursing facility in 1965. In 1987 the 100 hall was added. In 1995 the 500 hall was added. A number of private rooms became available with these additions. The facility added a rehab/physical therapy room in 2005, adding “rehabilitation” to the name. Today the facility has 137 beds, including a skilled nursing hall, 4 dining rooms, PT room, and a special care unit. River Oaks employs 110 staff members today. It is the premiere nursing center in Columbus, Texas.
